cambodia is the place to go is seim reap.but you need at least 2 days there to get set up and then spend a full day visiting Angkor wat temple area in viet nam out of the 2 places i would choose sai gon, much more friendly than ha noi , though if you plan to spend all 3 days in v.n. then go to ha noi a take day trips to ha long bay and the purple/pink pagoda [ chua huong , i believe its called.old town ha noi is nice , the ho hoan kiem area , but you can see that all in a short day.
Hey Just my thoughts but i reckon on going to Hanoi Ive been to Saigon a couple of times and i find it be like Bangkok . The old quarter great in Hanoi !!

It really depends on what you want to see. I really think Vietnam is a place that you need to take a good 10+ days and really see what they have from one end to the other..
I think Cambodia would be great for 3 days - definitely go and see Angkor Wat at Sunrise and then do a full day tour of the other temples such as Angkor Thon and Bayon..
Be sure to check out the villages on the river too..
