China

Hello,
I need some suggestions on what should i see in China. I will have 11 days and want to travel from Shanghai to Benjing. Any suggestions?

Some suggestions are, with no budgetary limitation, so you can fly round China easily:

3 days in Shanghai:
Could visit the Bund, the Lujiazui financial district, the former French Concession, the Jewish Ghetto, do a river cruise, Peoples Square (marriage markets on Saturdays), various museums and galleries, Tai Kang Lu, - I live here, can give you other ideas dependent on your interests.
1 day Hangzhou: West Lake and Tea Plantation
2 days Xian : Terracotta warriors, Muslim Qtr
2 days Chengdu : Panda sanctuary, Leshan Buddha
3 days Beijing : Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Hutongs, Summer Palace...

Other fabulous places are Guilin / Yangshuo, Kunming Stone Forest, Yunnan, but dependent on time...

Hope this is a help, can give more info if you need... or check out my blog here for more experiences of travelling through China.

Cheers,
Abby

I've only been to Beijing, but I would suggest catching a Acrobat Show and The Temple of Heaven. Also everything aboo10 suggested.

Just so you are aware - the itinerary above by aboo10 might be a little pushed - even with unlimited budget.

You will need 4 full days in Beijing to scratch the surface of the standard sights etc: Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Olympic Stadia, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven and Chengde is worth a visit...

Xi'an and Chengdu are not on route to Shanghai and are very out of the way so I would probably choose 1! (Xi'an is my recommendation based on the short time you are there) here you can see Terracotta Warriors, City Wall, Big and Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Bell and Drum Towers, in around 2-3 days.

I would suggest spending the remaining 4 days in and around Shanghai, not for Shanghai itself but the surrounding villages - Hangzhou and Suzhuo are beautiful places year round and can be visited in a day trip each. The rest use to explore Shanghai.

11 days is not a long time to discover China and the distances between Cities is vast. Don't rush as you will miss a lot.

Most of All Enjoy.

I would spend two days in Shanghai, one in Xi'an, one or two elsewhere and the rest in Beijing which has lots and lots of stuff to see. You will not do it justice in 3 days.

Fly when possible as you don't have time for days on trains or buses.

Be aware that China is BIG and the only way to see a number of places in a short time is by flying.

I'd spend two days in Shanghai including flight, two in Xi'an including flight and the rest in Beijing.
