well.. Palawan generally is less frequented by typhoons along with parts of Mindanao...I've had been in Puerto Princesa twice first on a August time where a big typhoon is flooding Manila while Palawan has the sun... the second time was another August time.. but this time we had some showers but it was only for a few short minutes..
I would say that go ahead with your trip to Palawan and you'll definitely enjoy it whether there is some showers or the beautiful sun...
please take note that July and August is the wettest season specially on Luzon and eastern Visayas as typhoons usually visit the country this time of the year... but still Palawan is usually not passed through by these weather systems...
While Palawan is blessed by its geographical position - away some distance from the typhoon belt, one can never tell there will be no rough weather in that area. During the rainy season, there is a chance (though, slim) that Palawan will be disturbed by a storm arising from the South China Sea.
You have to understand that typhoons pass an area for 2-4 days, then you have sunny weather again. So, if you stay in the Philippines longer than a week (in your plan, you mentioned 2 weeks), then am sure you will have the best chance of enjoying a gorgeous weather in-between your stay...unless, of course, you have 2-3 typhoons one after the other in a row during your visit here!
Enjoy Palawan!
