Thinking of taking a trp to Los Angeles on vacation but I'm not sure which area is he best, i was thinkin somewhere close to he airport or downtown? And i wont be driving so somewhere with good transport links?
Los Angeles is spread over hundreds of square miles so driving is an asset. You can get around by bus but it takes an awful lot of time (you may be asked to pay extra on motorway sections) trying to get to exactly where you want to go.
I would pick downtown, not too far from the bus station.
I liked being there in Jan-Feb. On four visits I've had sun every day while it's been horrible and cold back in the UK.
Next to impossible to get around LA without wheels! Public trans really a joke here. As to locations, downtown would be the worst location in my opinion. I would point you toward West Hollywood or Santa Monica - far more action and attractions.
If you still think you won't have wheels here, then I would try San Francisco - one compact city that also has excellent public trans (also a much better vibe!)
