Advice on Itinerary

Hi,

A friend and I are doing a RTW trip next year for around 4 months. We plan on flying into Lima, Peru from Miami, and then continuing on to Cuzco to see Machu Picchu and then probably on to La Paz via Lake Titicaca.

Just me but I think Peru has the most to see in South America. Do spend at least a day in Lima before heading to Cuzco.

Cuzco is worth a look around and has a number of travel agents which will book some good trips near and far.

I liked both Santiago and Buenos Aires but not really a lot to see in either one. Brazil is quite a long way up north.

Flights are often cheaper booked outside of these countries and months before arrival. Bus trips can take hours and hours and hours.

Thanks for your advice. We are flying into Peru on a separate tiket to our RTW, but we have to use our RTW to get home and the only cities we can fly out of are Santiago, Buenos Aires, Rio or Sao Paulo.
We will definately be spending some time around cuzco, and a day or so in Lima.
I am just struggling to find out which city would be the best to get to by land, and any suggested route. Or should we just bite the bullet and fly there? I don't mind long bus journeys if they are going to show me more of the sights of South America on the way. Would the journey be worth it?
