Where's your 'base'? I am guessing, based on your username, that you are from the US? At the very least in that case you will need a converter for the plug, which you can buy at an airport, or a electrical appliance shop easily enough. If you have a newish laptop, that should be all you need. However, if yours is (very) old, there's a chance the voltage will also be a problem. The US works with 110, whereas 220-240 is the norm in Europe. Check the bottom of the laptop where that kind of info is usually displayed. If it says anything like 100-240, you're good to go without any kind of voltage converters.
Carrying an ethernet cable along can be useful, but typically you'd be connecting via wifi, so make sure that's an option on your laptop (it'd have to be a pretty old one for it not to be standard).
I usually just travel with a plug coverter, and I'm pretty sure for any laptop after say 2005, that should be enough
