Looking for peoples opinions on there experiences of stuff you have done while in NZ.
Were adventurous, sporty and willing to try most things once.
Obviously we know about skydiving, bungee, swings, jet boating, whale watching etc... so were looking to see some of the not so advertised activites to do.
My favourites:
I liked all the little towns. NZ has so many of them. And the big ones too.
I saw a farm show not far south of Auckland.
Rotorua volcanic park, though the smell drifts so maybe not the best area to stay overnight.
Wellington and Queenstown cable car.
The ferry between islands.
Franz Josef glaciers
Airforce museum in Christchurch, if still OK.
I've been 3 times and had good weather that time of year and I've had rain so expect anything.
Not a lot in Invercargill, museum of the South, I think.
About 30 miles south is a sign post pointing everywhere, with distances.
I'll add in my 2 pennies:
Whale watching - Kaikoura
Abel Tasman National Park
Queenstown (various attractions)
Picton/Wellington ferry
Lake Taupo
Hells Gate Rotorua
Franz Josef/Mount Cook glacier
Have a great time
