1 year in oz

Hey, im going to be spending 1 mabye 2 years travelling australia in march, i have found this 60 litre plus 10 litre day sack rucksack, but i have found a website mentioning that 40-50 litres is better, the light you travel the better. but is this the case when going for a whole year?
cheers

Whether you're travelling for 1 month or 1 year you still take the very same stuff with you.

Most experienced backpackers easily get by with 40 litres with lots of room left over, but others like to lug around big backpacks for some reason, maybe they don't like doing a small laundry all the time or wearing the same clothes... different strokes... whatever makes you happy...

Cheers,
Terry

By the way, with that much money and time why are you restricting yourself just to Australia? Loads of interesting places nearby...

It's really easy to do your laundry when travelling around Oz, so I'd be inclined to travel with a smaller pack. Whichever one you choose, I'd strongly recommend getting one that opens out completely rather than a top loader; I found it very annoying having to re-pack them every time I wanted something!

I hope you are going to share your trip experiences on here! It would be interesting to hear it from the viewpoint of a backpacker.

Wow, that's too long... but yeah i agree bringing light stuff would be better... and I'm sure you would be buying some stuff there so expect to have a quite heavy baggage when you get back.
