I can never keep straight which side is best at what time of year, but from what I can see, although the Andamans is really good, the Thai gulf is still really good too! So do both!! Travel between the two isn't that difficult and if you have time you can stop at some great places on the way.
For the Similans I dove from a live aboard boat based in Koa Lak, they were a great outfit and very professional with a really nice boat. check them out
Koa Tao is a fantastic island and worth a visit just for the island. There is a huge amount of dive schools here. I dove with Scuba Junction who run a get them in, get them out dive school. It was cheap, but you feel a bit like cattle. I also dove with Who run a fast speed boat to get you to the best dive sites fast and were a great fun company.

Hi Amy, you can check big blue diving, it's ideal because this is located in Koh Tao,
Suratthani. they offer great accommodation as well .. diving instructors are all professionals so you don't have to worry about your safety. you can search them on the internet.
.. and hey the next time you visit Asia, you may consider visiting boracay for another diving experience... cheers & happy trip!
Hi Amy. I've just got back from koh Tao had a fantastic time doing my dive master course the diving isn't the best in the world but they have lots of cheap dive schools. I was at Davy Jones its only a small school but really friendly.
