I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I feel like it's time to grow a pair and head off into the unknown. I've got a solo trip to Berlin for a couple of months chasing me down at the minute - I set off next week.
It's my first solo trip but, really, I'm doing this so it bulls me up for something bigger next year. I'm planning on leaving the UK in the final third of 2013, by which time my feet are gonna be on fire with itchiness.
I've been looking at the Trans-Siberian train through Russia and Mongolia, pulling in at China, then down to Thailand and south east Asia. Looks great.
If your travelling from UK. Some cool places I have been to and suggest are Barcelona and Prague.
Some places I would love to see which i have not yet are Dubrovnik in Crotia, Moscow in Russia.
If you have somer extra time try to explore Thailand and Dubia.
