Go to any of the major phone stores (Verizon, Metro PCS, or AT&T). They all supply battery chargers that work in the car and will charge a iphone or android phone. Average cost is around $25. I just got one recently and was amazed how convenient they are compared to trying to do without (don't know why it took me so long to get one).
As far as a ipod, the best thing is to either have a car radio that charges your ipod when it plays it in the car (this is what I have), or else to charge your ipod using either the charger it comes with or by attaching it to a computer (PC or Mac). Then you can get a battery charger for the computer that works in the car--and charge both the computer and ipod at the same time.
I actually found one.
