Hi Ana,

Nice to hear you're plan of checking out the Philippines.

I'd assume you'll be coming in via Manila so I'd say you checkout Intramuros. It is an old Spanish fortress and has some preserved ruins from the WWII and rebuilt structures... Rizal Park is also near it. You may also want to see the sunset on Manila Bay, just walk along the Baywalk. You can also visit the Mall of Asia, currently 5th largest mall in the world... You may also try to visit the old Manila quarters of Sta. Cruz, Quiapo, and Binondo (the oldest Chinatown in Asia)..

While in Manila, you can do your shopping around Ayala Center in Makati...

You can also try to go to Tagaytay City about 2 hours south of Manila. There are public buses near the Manila Post Office building that go to Tagaytay. Tagaytay sits on a ridge that offers one of the most scenic views you might see, the Taal Lake and volcano. Tagaytay also has a lot of spa facilities which you might want to try out.

So in Manila with side trip to Tagaytay, you can spend 2-3 days...

Then you can fly to either Boracay, Cebu and Bohol, or Palawan...

Boracay has one of the best white sand beaches in the country and is our main product that competes with Bali or Phuket...

Cebu is the second major city in the country and is the oldest in the country... you can fly to Cebu and jump off to Boracay, Bohol or Palawan too..

Bohol is right next to Cebu and has some of the amazing beaches and has the unique landscape of the Chocolate Hills and are home to tarsiers...

Palawan is the last frontier of the PHilippines with the most preserved rain forests and marine sanctuaries... you can visit its beaches, the Underground River, or you can book a diving trip to Tubbataha Reef.... you can visit Puerto Princesa, El Nido, or Coron in the Palawan island group...

hope you have a great time in the PHilippines...

Ciao.

Paul

Hey Paul,

thanks a lot for your time to answer me!

It's being very difficult to choose the places since I have such a short time.
I've seen a lot of tips about where to go but none of them so accurate!

Some of them says to skip Boracay since it has a looooot of tourists. I was thinking about El Nido, but 6 hours of bus after our long trip will be a lot =/, and yes, I'm going via Manila.

What about Malapascua and Bas Daku ? Worth the trip if I choose to go to Cebu?

In your opnion, which one would be the best/beautiful/breath taking beach? lol

Could I spare my time in Manila - Cebu - Bohol? Should I use plane to all of them? Or there's another way between Cebu and Bohol?

I also saw that October is still in the rain season... any tips regarding this?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
Looking forward to this trip.

Best Regards,
Ana

Hi! Ana,

October is well within the rainy season but there would be unpredictable bouts of sunny weather and you can hope to have some in the span of 7-8 days that you are here.

Never make the mistake of not visiting Intramuros because it is a must for any foreign visitor to this country. If you are lucky, I might not be busy in my Intramuros office by the time you visit and you can give me a call so I could show you around the place.

Welcome to the Phillippines!

Cheers!
Sam

Hey Sam,

thanks a lot for your help! Will contact you for sure when we decide.
My only concern is, really, the wheater! But I believe October will not be so bad as per what I've been reading about this paradise =D

Really appreciate your comments, suggetions and help!

Regards,
Ana

Visit one of the 8 Wonders of the World, the underground river in Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan. Awesome white sand beaches as well. There are lots of things to do on that area. They have this wood worm called "tamilok" as one of their local exotic delicacies. And there's a crocodile farm as well, you'll get to eat different types of croc dishes. But me personally, I won't try it. haha

I think if your search this on search engine, get the complete information about everything you want.

Thank you all for the time and information!
Really appreciate your help

Best Regards,
Ana

If you like pristine beaches, go to Iloilo. It is in the same island as Boracay but it is not overcrowded. Try The beaches of Concepcion and have fun island hopping there. Look at the pictures in this site -snip-
