I'm looking for some help, I'm currently working in Adelaide and I want to do my work to qualify for my second year ASAP, am looking to stay in the area as I have free accommodation here. Not sure where to start with looking for this can anyone help? xx
Not sure how you can expect any useful advice when you give no clue regarding your skills/experience or what kind of work you're looking for. You're working right now... you don't want to move... surely you're in the best position to answer your own question and figure out how to keep working...
Good luck.
Cheers,
Terry
Terry: Suzy is asking specifically about "specified work", doing which is necessary to become eligible for a second year working holiday visa.
Suzy: All of South Australia is classified as "regional Australia", so that should include Adelaide, which is good for you. See for types of work which would qualify. Then start looking. I don't expect you'll find a whole lot in Adelaide itself, to be honest, but who knows? (Might be worth getting out of your comfort zone and leaving that free accommodation behind to get more of the full backpacker experience, though.)
Thanks for the clarification, Sander.
Suzy, the link that Sander supplied explains the work requirement very well.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Terry
There are always a number of second year visa qualified jobs listed in in the farming section of the jobs listings. Looks like there is one just an hour out of Adelaide just listed.
I occasionally put ads in looking for backpackers to do laboring and its incredible some of the rubbish people write expecting to get the job. "i need money, please give me the job", Someone actually wrote that to me, thinking that would secure them the job! Sending a generic resume listing how you have a BA in marketing, and a masters in history, is also not going to do anything to get you a job picking grapes on a farm. You need to check daily and be quick and original with your reply's, as there are a lot of people looking. If there is a phone number, call them. A lot of people on remote farms have limited reception or time to make reply's.
Another good place is a lot of the farms listed can sign off on your second year visa.
