Input requested for Goa itinerary

Hello All,

What you need are the locations for these churches, not only so you don't keep doubling back on yourself, but because the driver will often not know where they are. Look at as many as you can fit in, or till you feel you have had enough for one day.

There are some tours of old Goa, like tripbuffet, but you can do them yourself (a guide book is handy). A fairly good site:

A lot of Indians are vegetarians so that should be no problem.

Thank you so much for your prompt response to my post. And yes, thanks a ton for the link. That is exactly the type of thing I was looking for. As far as restaurants are concerned, I am not worried about having food options. It was more that I was looking for good or unique restaurants that have vegetarian options. Any input here would help. Thank you once again.

I was in Goa back in 2010 and I traveled all the way down from the north to south. I found Colva to be a bit built up and very Russian, not that that is a bad thing as I was with a very cute Russian girl at the time! The restaurants there were a good quality and there is plenty of choice of hotels.

I had a motorcycle, so it was easy to go over to Old Goa and spend a few hours looking around the churches. To me only the main ones were of any interest, which was about 3 of them. But I really enjoyed the museum that shows the history of Goan occupation by the Portuguese. When I was there, there wasn't much choice in restaurant, so we rode back over to Panjim which is also a very interesting town and has some better restaurants. For a guide, I don't think you can do better than Lonely Planet. Im not a big fan of them, but for Old Goa it gave a really good description of all the churches and a good map. You can buy just that section online for about $5.

Thank you so much. I hadn't really thought of the museum but that might very well be worth adding to the mix. Were you suggesting I use Lonely planet for the restaurants or for the churches? Thank you once again. I just might by that section online for $5. I did not know I could cherry pick specific sections online.

Well if you get the lonely planet guide you might as well check for restaurants as well as for the churches. They give just the basics of the churches which is all I wanted. Their restaurant guides are usually pretty good too, just to find the things, which can be difficult in India. The only problem I found with LP is that places become so popular because of being in the guide book, that they sometimes either bump prices up too much, or drop service and quality, or both. These days I find tripavisor is about the best reference.

yes the online downloading of sections seems to be something they started a couple of years ago.
