Volunteering in India

Hi all,

Hey. I wrote you on another thread.
About a organization called www.stepvolunteer.com
They learn you basic hindi skills while you are there, so you can communicate with the indian community. It is located in Udaipur. I don't know if you been there yet, but it is one amazing city - my favorite in India.

Hey!

I responded on another thread... but really quite superficially. I have not been to Udaipur yet, and it is certainly in my plan. I'll look it up just before I get there... name alone makes me intrigued (run a website called step up, dive in...

I really look forward to seeing Udaipur now, thanks

Udaipur is great! you will enjoy it. So is the organization. If you have any questions you can just ask, I spend a lot of time there. And the kids I volunteered with are the sweetest. Enjoy Jaipur:-)

Okay, thanks a lot. I looked up the site and it looks pretty great. I'm currently hanging out in Pushkar and will be looking at making my way over to Udaipur shortly. Have you done the rest of Rajahstan, and have any suggestions?

I am so jealous. How long are you planning to be there for? (if you end up volunteering) I have done the big things in Rajasthan. Go to Jodhpur if you can, and Jaisalmer for the desert. if you contact the organization I am sure they would help you. Mount Abu is close to Udaipur, and really nice (or so I heard) And also... the rat temple, it's in the other end of Rajasthan, I haven't been there, but it sounds so different and maybe worth seeing! Hope you can use the suggestions!
Have a nice time in Pushkar, I was there once for the camel fair, and it was so amazing, did you have a chance to experience it?

Hey! Jonny

As you heading toward Udaipur you can got to Seva Mandir which is located in there; this place is for do task on day-to-day operations, research conduction, undertaking independent assignments, and developing training modules. There you will get well furnished Guest houses but food on your owns. visit www.sevamandir.org/volunteer.htm for more information!

In Jodhpur you can go to The Mandore Guest which excellent place for voluntary tourism - here you will able to help people in eduction, building infrastructures, some funny ruarl works. visit for more - mandore.com. THis is run by NGO called - MARWAR MEDICAL & RELIEF SOCIETY.

I think information is good set you travel

Petricia, I ended up moving on from Udaipur to Jaisalmer... I'm really enjoying Rajasthan but am starting to think that I need to get out of the desert heat... So I'm thinking of either heading south and being closer to the ocean, or north into the Himalayas.

I was also in Pushkar for the camel fair, it was very nice and quite crazy! I've heard a bit about both Mount Abu and the rat temple, but haven't seen either of them myself.

Thanks for all the information, sounds like you have had a great time in India, are you still here?

Hey.

I like the north more than south - but it would be very cold now I think. I am glad you are having a good time in India. No I am not in India anymore, but I did have an amazing time!!

I belive NOrth as well as SOuth part of India are totalyy good both have diffrent variation in culutre and customs while both are having good travel destinations. It's totally depedns on what type of travel you are loking for. Kashmir is vibrant place the heavan on the eath while kanyakumari also worth th same status. You can also visit the north east part they too are best.
