Your problem - as I see it -is getting on and off the train almost every day. why not just 4 places and stay longer and enjoy the places? I would chose Berlin' Zurich, Rome and Venice.
Like the post above says, you're spending too much time on a train. The trains take longer then you think, and you wont have time to actually see the places. I suggest one of two things
1) extend your trip and spend more time in the places you've chosen
or
2) Reduce the number of stops. If I were to do this, I would take out Bern and Zurich. All the other places are fantastic and I can't choose another one to take out.

I understand you want to get the most of your rail pass and do your travel within the timeframe of the pass. But you're getting two weeks of looking at the insides of a train carriage - and as you said you're doing this with family that could be frustrating with kids.
As the spain bit is costly why not knock that part on the head. Saving you four days which you could use for extra days in Berlin, Venice, and maybe route back from Venice to Paris somewhere interesting like Geneva.

My plan has changed a lot since I made that post. The latest plan is this:
Day 1, London to Paris (train arrives around 11am)
Day 2-3, Paris
Day 4, Travel to Geneva (train)
Day 5, Geneva
Day 6, Travel to Bern (train)
Day 7-8, Bern
Day 9, Travel to Venice (train)
Day 10-11, Venice
Day 12, Travel to Rome (train)
Day 13-15, Rome
Day 16, Travel to Barcelona(fly)
Day 17-19, Barcelona
Day 20, Back to London (fly) in evening
I am not planning on buying the inter-rail pass now and I will just buy point to point tickets. I am still not entirely sure which two places are the best to visit in Switzerland but travel wise Geneva and Bern fit perfectly.
Hello Jamal, I think when you're in Germany you can use Half Fare Card, there is a special price for a week pass -snip-.
