Canada to South America - late 2014/early 2015

Hi!
Canadian female here who's turning 18 in October. I'm looking for a hitchhiking buddy to head down to South America with. Colombia is where I want to visit most, along with Mexico, Chile and Uruguay. Looking for anyone who enjoys a good adventure!

Hitchhiking through Central/South America - especially as a woman - is a really bad, misinformed decision. Do some research.

Save up the dough to take the inexpensive buses and in some places (like Colombia) the excellent and cheap internal flights.

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry

Thanks, Terry, for the reply--it's very much appreciated.

I have done the research and understand the risks (especially as a woman). I wasn't hoping to hitchhike the entire way (mostly in the States) and was thinking of taking buses and trains as an option, which I should have mentioned in the original post. Either way, I want to be able to travel Central/South America without having to take a flight to every country which is why I was hoping to find a travel buddy. Safety in numbers.

But, thank you for your concern and advice. I suppose I'll do more research in alternative means of transportation.

Perfect, that's sounds much, much better! Parts of Central America in particular are absolutely 100% off limits to you hitch-hiking, but buses/shuttles are everywhere and very affordable.

You have a great trip in front of you. Enjoy Colombia, it's one of my favourite places in the Western Hemisphere. If you have some extra dough consider a side trip to Cuba... it's not cheap, but off the beaten path it's a unique destination.

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry
