Have a look at this Not very useful perhaps but all I can find.
I cannot find anything official about the subject & I have no idea where they get that info from.
Re getting back into UK - I doubt it will be an issue as I cannot see what it has to do with the UK authorities, But it is always best to comply with all the rules.
Do you have time to apply for an extension of the visa?

There have been some previous discussions about overstaying Schengen visas, including people who have said what the consequences were. One mentions a 6 month travel ban. The other mentions a 110 Euro fine.
I recommend reading through some of to see these other people's experiences.
Also, I don't think you'd have a problem entering the UK. It's leaving Germany that would be the issue.
