Keeping your valuables safe whilst abroad

One tip to loss prevention while abroad(of your personal valuables) is to check, double check, and check again whenever you depart from a spot. This applies to leaving restaurants, any means of transportation, and also the hotel room. Nothing hurts more than losing a wallet, phone, or camera. For example, once while in China, we forgot our walkie talkie inside of a taxi and were unable to retrieve it. This separated us from the rest of our group and put us in a very bad position afterwards. Do you guys have any other tips regarding keeping valuables safe?

The best thing you can do first is to don't bring too much baggage so you can manage it carefully. Having too much things with you while traveling are prone is not safe.

It's true, losing something of value in a different country, especially one where you don't speak the language, can derail your entire schedule and be a real pain. I always make sure to double check, just like you suggested, and I carry around digital copies of my id and any important documents. Also, I only carry around the money I'll be needing for that day, and a safety credit card. Everything of value goes into the backpack I use daily, instead of pockets, around my neck or in my hands. That goes my digital camera too!

There are small pouches that you can buy which hang around your neck and you can wear it under your clothes. This would prevent theft and keep your items safe. Many hotels have a safe in the room where you can keep your valuables. If the room does not have a safe, sometimes you can leave your valuables at the front desk where they will keep them in their safe until you request them.
