i intend going to bangkok with my wife , 2 kids (teens) and my parents. I intend doing kolkata-Bangkok-krabi-phuket-bangkok-kolkata. My query is while travelling from Krabi to phuket is it advisable to take a bus or hire a taxi. what would be the approximate cost of either of the option and what would be the time taken. further can anyone suggest a good place (i am not a stickler for fancy hotels - but i need a comfortable and clean place to say - mid range hotels) to stay at Krabi (or should i stay at Aonang) and phuket

To save time a Google search with a computer will give you many links for "how to get to Krabi from Phuket." Your hotel might have information on a vehicle that will accommodate 6 people.
So do a search with a computer!

I have avoided Phuket area for past 10 years, any information I have will be out of date. But for hotel help you should elaborate on how much a "mid range" hotel price is for you per nite. Not everyone has the same idea for economy or mid range values. (Use Thai baht!)
- Usually easier to find 2 rooms than one room that will hold 6 people! My guess you will be in Krabi area for several day and not just a single night.
(Bangkok will be cheaper than Phuket area because of cheap city transportation.)
Usually someone will come up with some specific advice if you are patient.
