I'm pretty inexperienced with travelling although I've always had a real passion for other countries and cultures. I've been saving up for quite a while now and really want to go somewhere. I'm thinking of a European City, Italy because I speak Italian, possibly, but I'm open minded as to exactly where. I've been confusing myself reading about loads of different places! I've never really travelled by myself and I'm pretty nervous about it, especially since I'm a girl. I just wondered will it be fun if you're not with a friend? And what should I do to stay safe?
Any tips would be appreciated.

If you really want to travel then you should. Lots of women and girls travel alone. Like going to the next city you just have to be street-smart.
Yes you'll have fun especially if you Really want to see the world.
If you speak Italian then Italy sounds like the perfect jumping-in point. Rome, a great start and after that go where your heart takes you.
Plan well, prepare and get ready to enjoy the world.
I'm sure even if your travelling alone you'll soon meet like minded people in hostels/hotels that are travelling alone too, so you might not be alone for long.
Just be street-wise to stay safe, such as stay in busy/touristy areas at night, do a bit of research into the areas to stay away from etc. Basically like you might do at home when travelling around a big city.
