Brighton is a must if you're down that way! There are so many good pubs - the Basketmakers, The Foundry, Great Eastern just to name a few. Make sure to check out the Museum if you have chance, it's really well done and free. El Mexicano is a great restaurant!
London is so big it's hard to know exactly what to suggest, and it depends on whereabouts you'll be. The Ship on Wardour Street is one of my favourite pubs in central London - apart from all the Sam Smiths pubs cuz they're cheap and welcoming! Go to Hampton Court Palace if you get a chance to go that far (it's half hour from Clapham), it's one of the best historic places in London in my opinion. And of course, if you want a zoo - London Zoo is very good.
Hyde Park is a nice walk, especially when the weather is warm, and the V&A is near there which is a great museum.
Whatever you do have a great time!
yeah defo mate go to brighton!! there is so much to do and see there. If you get the time (and chance) along the coast inbetween eastbourne and brighton is cuckmere haven which is amazing, along with the seven sisters (google is) and is an amazing view on a sunny day!
I'll def try to check out that cuckmere haven. looks good for photos. any other good looking landscape for photos?

Brighton is definitely a good choice for a day out. For restaurants I would recommend Due South, or Terre a Terre if you a Vegetarian. If it's a fine day its quite nice to rent a kayak for half an hour and paddle up and down between the piers. Definitely take a look around the Pavilion. The North Laine is super for shopping - lots of great small independent shops along a chain of narrow, characterful streets. For cheap food I would recommend Casa Don Carlos which is a great little tapas place in the Lanes. I agree with Craggy's pub recommendations, along with about 50 others - it's true that there are many good pubs in Brighton.
In London, the Eye is quite a good romantic thing to do, depending on who you get stuck in a pod with! Near there, I think the best view across the river to Westminster is from Lambeth Bridge, better than from Westminster Bridge.
An afternoon in Highgate and/or Hampstead would be nice too, make sure you walk up Parliament Hill in Hampstead Heath for some good views over London. Kenwood House is nice, also check out Highgate Cemetery - take a guided tour of the old part which is surprisingly interesting and well worth the £5. My favourite food pub of the moment is at the bottom of Hampstead Heath, The Bull and Last.
Richmond is also a good place for half a day, the park is smashing complete with historic buildings and deer, and the riverside is a great place for a meal or a drink, Gaucho Grill maybe (if you like your meat!!).
For something a bit different you could try the walk along the canal from Primrose Hill to Little Venice? That's a nice thing to do on a sunny day.
Greenwich is also a good place to go on a sunny afternoon, with the park, the observatory and the maritime museum, and you can get a ferry there from the centre of town, which is a nice way to see the river.
And.. if you want a top, top romantic meal, go for Gordon Ramsay at Claridges. The food is absolutely perfect and if you go for lunch on a weekday it's still £30 per head for 3 courses which I think is unbelievable value considering how good it is. As long as you don't go crazy on the wine of course. Book ahead.....
I agree that the V&A is a great museum, I think I probably prefer it to the others these days. The newly refurbed Museum of London in the Barbican Centre is also really good, gives you a very good idea of the history of London.
Brighton's an excellent and easy day out from London. The train takes an hour from Victoria station and there are plenty of services.
Whilst in London, catch the tube to Hammersmith and spend a lazy afternoon at the riverside pubs such as the Blue Anchor and the Dove. If you keep walking east you'll come across a few more pubs before walking over the Thames at Barnes Bridge to start another pub crawl through Barnes.
Richmond is also great as mentioned above.
Catch the tube to Green Park tube station, and simply do a large circular walk that goes through Green Park, down to Buckingham Palace, then to Parliament, Big Ben, 10 Downing St, up to Trafalgar Square and back to Green Park. It'll take an hour or so but you'll see a lot of interesting things and you are not getting on and off trains or buses.
