Currently travelling round se asia, and made the decision to delay my flights to Oz so i can stay in thailand to see the islands and go to the full moon party..however due to the spontaneous decision, finding it so hard to find any accommodation- bearing in mind i'm on a tight budget, only really wanna stay on koh paghan for 2 nights at most. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT! thanks.
Hmmm, yes this sounds tricky. I think alot of the cheaper places don't take advance bookings and if they do they will possibly hold a minimum stay of around 5 nights... You would maybe be best turning up and having a walk around, but you'd need to do this a few days before so just staying 2 nights is probably not going to possible.

I was at the February Full Moon and met up with a lass who turned up the day before Full Moon and found somewhere to stay, but she had to walk around for two hours and it was 10-15 minute walk from Haad Rin Sunrise Beach. But she was really lucky and basically that doesn't usually happen. If you're on a budget and want somewhere cheap then generally you have to get to Haad Rin at least a few days before Full Moon.
However, if you're travelling around the islands in the build-up to Full Moon there's a good chance you'll meet other backpackers who are going to the Full Moon party as well, so if you meet anyone sound you could always take their details and ask if you can sleep on their floor as a back-up option in case you don't find anywhere to stay (which you probably won't). This is a bit of a risk, but on the other hand virtually every backpacker in the south of Thailand heads to Koh Pha Ngan over Full Moon, so it's pretty likely that you'll meet up over Full Moon with backpackers that you've met before on your travels.
Other than this there isn't really a solution. Cheap is possible if you get there a few days before Full Moon, or if you only want to stay for two or three nights then this is also possible as long as you're prepared to pay over the odds for somewhere to stay, but if you want cheap and to get there late then there aren't really any options.
