I know nothing about kite surfing, but do know about scams in Phuket. Many of the operators make much more money with damage extortion scams. Watch what the the scenario is when people return boards to the operators. See if it is a simple, clean process.
Here is just one of many horror stories:
Hi, thanks for the information, and I'm sorry about not knowing what a "scam" is,
What do you mean by scam? Thanks
Vane
In july it will be good as it will be Monsoon time. And for Kite surfing direction of wind is the most important thing to keep in mind.
Chalong bay is Phuket’s true Kitesurfing spot and the weather is AWESOME!

A "scam" is a "con".
You will return a rental item, then the operator will find some damage and attribute it to you. Not only did you not do the damage in most cases, the money asked for the damage will far exceed any repairs that might be needed. The repair won't be done away, because they will use the damage over and over.

Hi,
do you know if there's any difference between kitesurfing in Chalong Bay, Rawai Beach(friendly) or Karon/Patong beach?? as I see them on the map, they seem to be quite far from each other, and, besides, on different sides of the city. Do you know if wind conditions are different ?
Thankss!!!
