It depends how many days before Full Moon you are arriving. I generally try to get there a week before cos I like to stop specifically at Sea Garden Resort (right behind the beach, but far enough back to get to sleep okay), but if you're not too bothered about where you're staying then if you get there five days before then you should find somewhere decent no problems. Three days before and your choices will be becoming more limited. And if you're arriving any later than three days before then you're risking it and might end up having to pay over the odds for somewhere.
Although having said that, a lass I met got to the February Full Moon the day before Full Moon and managed to find somewhere to stay. She had to walk around for a couple of hours though, and it was a good ten-fifteen minutes walk away from Sunrise Beach (where the Full Moon Party is).
If you do decide to book in advance most places have a policy that you have to book for a minimum of five days. Also, most of the cheapest hotels/resorts don't take bookings on the internet and you have to just turn up in person. So if you book in advance then you'll probably pay a bit more than you would if you just found somewhere when you got there.
When two dates are quoted for Full Moon it generally means that the actual Full Moon falls on a Buddhist festival, so they move the Full Moon Party back a day. So from what you've said I would guess that for May the actual Full Moon will be on 17th May, but they're going to have the actual Full Moon Party on 18th May.

I have pre-booked my accomodation for Full Moon as didnt want to be stuck with no choice when i got there!
I am going to the Full Moon party in June and staying @ CoCo Gardens, its in Ban Tai not Haad Rin but the bungalows run a free taxi service on Full moon days, taking you and picking you up
Sold it for me as made me feel safer about it all as im pretty sure there will be no designated drivers/walkers that night/day!!

Hi,
the only issue i face is these people dont provide accomodation for less than 3-4 days during full moon period... while i will be there for only two nights... i think i will have to reach there and then look.. lets see what happens...
