coleman camping gas

hi. im planning a trip to the philippines in nov 2011 backpacking. i have a coleman f1 power trek stove which uses
coleman screw-on gas cylinders. does anyone know if these type of cylinders are available in the philippines, thanks.

Why are you taking a stove with you? With food so cheap from local eateries why lug a stove and worry about gas cylinders? You already know that you can't bring a gas cylinder on a plane.

Just 10 minutes ago, in the Ermita area of Manila, I have passed by some cheap lunch counters with daily specials starting around 35-45 pesos. That is under or around a dollar US!

Google check gives you a few possibilities for the Manila area:

Where you can use a stove is a little limited. You can't safely use them indoors anyway. If your intention was to camp out somewhere I would do some more thinking on that! Just the fact that you are a rich foreigner with some fancy stove all alone makes you a target for thieves.

If your intention is to simply heat up some hot water for coffee, tea or instant noodles there are electric devices that you can plug in. I always travel with a small electric immersion heater and plastic cup. I always boil water in my hotel room for coffee. There are cheaper ones available than the coil below. You can pick up instant coffee packets in local stores.

Most backpackers stay in hostels or cheap hotels with electricity.

Up to you!
