Hey everyone,
Well, I haven't gone on a 'cruise' exactly, but I love travelling by long-distance/international ferry. The 30-hour passage from Incheon, Korea to Qingdao, China was an interesting experience. So was the ferry to Crete. Those ferries had restaurants, small stores, etc., although they weren't exactly cruises, with all the amenities.
Even on a crowded cruise ship, there are probably a few places where you can escape the crowds and enjoy the experience of being a speck in the middle of the ocean. Certainly, it's worth trying just once.
But bring a novel just in case.
Thank's madpoet,
That's true, the thought of being on the ocean with no land in sight sounds great. That is certainly a redeeming factor. Yes, and certainly a novel or two
Check to see if the ship has only saltwater swimming pools... They tend to refill those in port while the bilge water is dumped. If they have a freshwater pool - go there.
I haven't been on a cruise and don't relish the idea of being stuck on an 'over-stuffed floating mall' either. But, it sounds like you may not have a choice on this one. (You have my sympathies.)
If they have the climbing wall, surfing pool and those types of activities, you might just have a good time. Plus, your partner will be pleased you are there.
(ps: Happy 'belated' birthday! Forgot to mention that yesterday. You probably missed the .)
Hey Isa, thanks for the info.
I'd certainly try and make the best of it. A surfing pool does sound fun.
If it happens I'll be sure to post a picture or two here on TP
Thanks for the birthday wishes too
Hey Brendan, I know i'm a little late on the reply but I've been on a cruise and it docked at 2 places so it wasn't half bad, I was able to get out and walk around a little. i did not go into a single shop on the ship.
Find out how many days you're going to be on it and whether it docks anywhere.
Also, id say its worth spending the extra on a room with a balcony that you can escape to. I found it very relaxing to order some room service (normally completely free on a cruise) and just sit there and enjoy the sea going by! sunsets and sunrises are great .
Coz otherwise the "standard" rooms can get pretty claustrophobic. you're going on a cruise anyway, make sure you enjoy it!
I was on a Royal Caribbean cruise so they had the rock climbing wall and a nice deck to hang out at. When you've done everything else, why not just explore the whole of the ship? that should take up some hours.
i hope you manage to have a good time!
ooo just came across this, thought you might like it!
