Train Help - Koh Samui to Bangkok

hotdogfox has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

ferry + train
on this link you will find some good info:
http://www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm#Ko Samui
this train is probably the "fast" one with "first class" compartments which is an overpriced a/c seat for tourists with horrible meals and still quite slow.

ferry + bus:
buses are faster on this route and possibly cheaper as well compared to 1st class "fast" trains. you can arrange ticket through agent on the island or just take ferry to mainland and get a ticket from the bus station towards bangkok.

Think that kichikacha is probably right.

Call the US Embassy.
You could also Call the train people

Kanchanburi by the old train is really a wonderful.
Don't miss it.
The old cars... the clickity clack... the rice paties and workers with straw hats...
the river and the mountains...
Felt like I had stepped back in time.
I came up with the comment" " Where is Boggie?"

PS: I would recommend Ko Samet over Ko Samui... or are they the same

I join Rhymers comment on the train ride. It is indeed a lovely journey. If you are not in a rush best is to take a second class train with locals - at least for the first leg of your journey.

I would be checking the Koh Samui ferry timetable to see if it connects with the train. I'd imagine there are ferry + bus options in the one day. Suggest you visit a travel agent on Koh Samui and then decide on your mode of travel.
