Nicaragua in April

jodiincostarica has indicated that this thread is about Nicaragua

Nicaragua is, on the whole, safe. The people are very nice, in my opinion. If you are in San Juan Del Sur, it behooves you to see Grenada. That area is lovely. You might want to spend a day or two on Ometepe as well. Nicaragua IS a budget trip...You'd be hard pressed to blow a big wad in the country. If you are landing in Managua, leave for Grenada or SJDS immediately. Managua, in my experience, is not dangerous...It's abandoned. The city never bounced back after the earthquake there and, if you ask for the centre of town, they'll take you to a suburban mall. there is nothing there to see but the decrepit ruins of a cathedral.

Thank you for your advice. I was thinking of going to Grenada as well. There seems to be a lot of hostels and low priced hotels in San Juan del Sur, and if anyone has personal experience of a good place there, I was thinking of about up to $20 per night and with my own bathroom and private room. I am fine to share a kitchen and the place doesn`t have to be fancy, just clean and safe. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Jodii, can ypu please provide me with your email, i have some ideas for your trip, i cannot reply to the email that you sent me

HI Jodi,

I loved Nicaragua a few years back!!! You lucky thing. Also try and go to see the Lago de Nicaragua. Its stunning and there you will find a beautiful island called Ometepe Island. There are worth a trip.
And if you plan seeing Managua then also head for Leon as I loved this city the most, Real trip back in history.
As for San Juan, if you are into soe waves and surf and meeting surfers, this is the place to hang out. Its tiny and not much to do but ideal to hang out and relax.
have fun and enjoy.

Yay! It sounds wonderful. I may check out Ometepe! Thanks for the advice. I'll post some pics and write a blog after my trip. It will be some time in April...
