Hey everyone, so I stumbled across this website whilst trying to convince myself I could go
It alone, I was supposed to move to oz with my ex last year and changed my mind, didn't feel really ready for it then. Anyway over the past year I've saved enough and realised that it's really something I want to do and if
I don't I will regret it, so no regrets!!! So far no plans yet, want to possibly do
Thailand on my way and then go to oz on a whv!! The plan is to go in sept as I want to go to v festival in august, I also want to be in Sydney for Xmas and new year!!! Anyway all my friends are either home bods, settled down etc so I'm nervous but really excited about doing it alone, I think reading everyone here saying the same has helped so much!! Anyway anyone in the same boat who has the same idea, wants to meet up etc get in touch!!! xxx
Hey, I was in a similar position as you this time last year and had exactly the same thoughts and mates who were settled down etc (although I went to Glastonbury and not V ).
12 months on I'm now sat in an apartment in Sydney typing this message, telling you to go for it. Sydney is ace. No regrets!
Also, if you plan on being in Sydney for Xmas and New Year book as early as possible as everywhere gets fully booked early. Last Year I stayed at YHA Sydney Harbour for Xmas and New Year...I know their bookings open on 31st March for xmas and new year so get in there early if you plan on staying at the YHA (the place is almost a hotel not a hostel)!

Im going over to Oz with in the first week of September. I am going alone! I was originally going with a friend but she has let me down! But just thought i may aswell still go for it, as i will never get the chance again. Talking to alot of people who have travelled Oz before, they have all said going alone is the best way, so i guess i have just gone by their word!
I am starting in Cairns and working my way down the East Coast and getting to Sydney for Xmas and New Year which i have booked into Wake Up hostel! Then will just go with the flow from then on!
When you have made your plans, let me know what you have decided to do, we may cross paths, be good to meet up have a drink, or few more like!

Hey Andy, thanks for the message, this is just what I need to help, I think this site in general has been brilliant for giving me the confidence to go it alone!!! Thanks for the advice too will def look into that, any other advice in general would be muchly appreciated as at the moment I have no clue!! :-)
Hey Lisa, glad I'm not the only one in the same situation makes me feel so much better about the decision!!! No real plans yet just Sydney for Xmas and new year!!! Was either thinking starting in Melbourne or cairns or even Brisbane as I have a friend who is living there!! Have you any plans yet or just going with the flow??? Defo up for meeting up for a drink or two (my fav past time hahaha)

Hey, just read your post and you have pretty just described my complete situation!! lol. I've been desperate to travel ever since i left college a good few years back, but have never had anyone who wanted to go, iv got mates exactly the same, never steped foot outside there little village or are settling down or have kids. Im lucky im still in a situation where i have a choice, im 23 and im afraid still live at home lol. But its good it gives me options.
I was suppost to go away for a month last year but things didnt work out, but im tryin my best to get saving now and want to do Thailand in september to, but to be honest id be happy to start anywhere! And i to am hoping to go Vfest i go every year iv just applied to work there as a steward, thought it mite be better earning money for than spending £200 on ticket lol! But as for traveling alone im terrified and iv not traveled much so realy want to go with sum1. Iv looked at the tours on STAtravel.com its a good site and theres lots of 2 week tours you can sign up for so you have something organised when you first get there. You should check it out. I live in warwickshire do you live newhere near be wicked to meet up and have chat bout it. Its nice to know theres people with same plans and ideas. And i totally aggree no regrets i never wana look back and be dissapointed i didnt do the one thing i always dreamt of!! Neway drop us a line back if you like xxxx

Hey cheers for reply chick, to be honest i have no idea where i wana start, iv been thinking thailand iv always wanted to go there and these STA tours take u all the way round the main tourist areas from the busy street markets to the beaches, u spend couple of days in each part with a group of people and a rep then they take u back to bangkok and u deside weather to go home or stay out there. But im still unsure on dates ect as am still saving, not even sure how much u realy need to take as it is so cheap out there?
If you go on Vfest site theres a link to apply to work, iv applied before tho but had no luck so usually end up payin for ticket, i love my fests tho i go to loads every year, you will love it!!! Lydz Thailand is well cheap... I found Hostels for as little as £2 a night !! Breakfast Included! Travelling around is really cheap too. Ive budgeted just 2k for Thailand/Laos/Malaysia for 10 weeks and thats to just be on the safe side as i dont think I will be spending more than 1.5k !!!
Google Stray Travel Asia, they go round parts of Thailand and Laos, awesome company!

Yeah asia is cheap my mum has a house in the Philippines and I have been a few times and so cheap, I'm hoping to take about 3k and work whilst in oz, wanna be out of here as long as poss! :-)
Think I'm just gonna go to v and enjoy it rather than work as my mates birthday weekend!! Although my friend who has been travelling in oz on his own has worked a few in oz so I wouldn't mind doing that!!! xxx
