does anyone know of any rental shops with websites so i can contact them ahead of time?
i don't know any but i think you will definitely find something in the tourist centers in the city.
i think the rate for a scooter should be around US$5-7 / day, for motorbike add maybe another 50%.
i wouldn't book anything in advance but would rather go to the shop in the tourist area and see the bike for myself before i rent it out.
