Hello,
I didn't live in Malaysia, only travelled and stayed in rural areas with villagers.
It is a very safe country and malaysians are very friendly and hospitable.
Living conditions in rural areas are basic compared to western standards (especially toilet and bathroom facilities), however malaysian homes are very tidy and neat inside. Food is excellent!
I would definitely go and take onto such opportunity.
