Hello fellow travelers!
I am a university student living in Melbourne, Australia. At the end of this year I am planning to head to South America to take a Spanish course, for credit towards my Spanish language major. However, the university has stipulated that I have to study at a University over there to qualify for credit towards my degree, NOT a private institution!
After some brief googling I am overwhelmed with the amount of info out there, and was wondering if anyone had any personal experience or ideas about the best unis in South America for this sort of thing.
Any help would be so appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Lucy
Hello Lucy,
How are you, I hope you are OK.
I have just read your nice post about your interest in studying spanish in South America, mainly at some University . Let me give you some advice about this. I studied social communications at , in Peru. San Marcos University is considered the oldest university in America (450 years) and it is well known around the world, academically talking of course. I think this the best place for you to , not only because of this University itself (Mario Vargas Llosa, Literature Nobel Prize winner 2010 studied there), but because of the fact that Spanish in Perú is considered to have one of the best intonations and pronounciations. On the other hand you will be able to learn a lot of Latinamerican and Peruvian culture, different ways of life, and rich experiences.
By Studying in Peru, you would have the opportunity be close to Inka and pre Inka culture, you will be relatively close to the Machu Picchu citadel , and a lot of other archaeological complexes; besides there are lots of beautiful and amazing landscapes such as sunny beaches, wet and mysterious rainforest, and imponent mountains.
I hope you can read today, because today we are celebrating the centenial of the "discovery" of Machu Picchu. I give you this links:
