I am hoping to volunteer in Peru, i've looked online and found Cross Culture solutions, which seem to do great programs but very expensive, I spoke with other people and they said that I should be able to find somewhere there???
How long are you looking to go for?
There are definitely much cheaper options than Cross Cultural Solutions. I did IVHQ in India, which only came out $500 (plus airfare). With that said, I have no idea how the IVHQ program in Peru is, but it might be worth looking into. So much depends on the ability of your in-country staff to deliver a great service and put you in a good placement.
If you are heading to Cusco you can check out Proyecto Peru (proyectoperucentre.org). They have a learn spanish program which I did. They also offer FREE volunteering projects. Only catch is that you have to be able to speak reasonably well spanish and volunteer for a minimum of 4 weeks.
Cheers, Kyle
Do you they provide free room and board? Cuz that would be pretty sweet!
No they don't. But it's possible to find cheap accommodation. My girlfriend and I found a room in an apartment from a add posted in a cafe's toilet. Ended up paying 195 s./ per week for the two of us
Hey volforever, I would like to learn more about your volunteer experience in india. That's something I'm interested in doing on my next trip to india.
