Myself and a friend are planning a holiday in north India at the end of Feb. Our current planned route is Delhi - Agra - Jaipur - Udaipur - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer, travelling by train.
Nancy...I once travelled from Delhi to Jaisalmar by car..It was an amazing journey. It took us 12 hrs to reach Jaisalmar in Rajesthan. I think if you take train it will make you travel for 17 hrs. Amritsar is good. I suggest you to start from Jaisalmar and reach Delhi and then to Amritsar. I think if you get a car/taxi you can finish these plaes in 4-5 days. But make sure you are ready to travel by car.
