Need to make my Visit Itinary to Europe in may- jun 2012

Hi

You are trying to do far too much in too short a time.

Miss Norway out as it is too far away. And a few other countries. Maybe Switzerland and Austria. Maybe only see north-east Spain. The more travelling you do, the more it will cost you. And you could easily spend 2-3 weeks, even your whole holiday in some of these countries as there is a lot to see.

Some countries have toll roads and if you do not take them you'll spend forever going through little towns, stuck in traffic jams and at red lights. Last year I drove across France and in a car it cost about 100 euros. A bigger vehicle will cost more.

Fuel costs around six euros a gallon in Europe. A campervan will probably get around 25 mpg so you'll be paying around a euro for every 4 miles you travel. And the UK to France to Spain to Italy to Switzerland to France to Germany to Netherlands and drop the van back in the UK so you don't have to pay a steep one way charge, you are looking at over 3,000 miles.

That's 750 euros plus hundreds of euros toll charges plus maybe a few hundred more crossing the channel and returning.

Plus the cost of hiring the campervan and maybe insurance. Prices start from around £25 a day and if you get one in the UK they will probably not let you take it abroad, as in to France, etc.

There are cheap airlines to travel around Europe where you can pick somewhere and use it as a travel hub to do day trips to other places by public transport or cars, then move on.

If you have a car, parking can be difficult in cities and towns, and far worse with a campervan as they are quite big. And parking often costs money there too. If you park illegally they can tow your vehicle away and it costs a lot of money to get it back again.

With that many people and a lot of travelling, this is going to be a very expensive holiday.

wow, 10+ people. All I can say is Good Luck.

I have planned several trips to Europe for groups of 10-13 people and the only way its worked for us is when we plan what *we* want to do and post the itinerary ahead of time. Those who want to join us for any/all of it are welcome, and we buy tickets for things accordingly. Those who don't (i.e. they hate Mozart and don't want to go to our concert) plan on doing their own thing during those times and meet back up with us later. It's worked like a charm 3 times now and everyone fits in what they don't want to miss.

Hope that helps somewhat! Have fun planning and good luck!

I completely agree with Sprite, you need to plan you itinerary and from that you can then decide how you will travel. A bunch of us went from the UK and covered a couple of countries in Europe in a coach, total of 14 day trip. We used a UK coach company, the beauty of this is that, dependent on regulations you have a driver there for most of the time, and I was shocked about how much he knew about the areas we were travelling to.

As with all the other countries, I would suggest that you pick a couple of places per country that you want to visit, as Cyberia mentioned you could spend the whole time just visiting one country. So my advice is research and plan your trip! It might be worth while costing out a tour using a coach company.

Good Luck, and let us know what you decided
