Travelling to Philipines - Boracay island 27-5 March 2012

Hi There,

Hi Rie,

There are a lot of things you can do when in Boracay, you might want to try parasailing, helmet diving, snorkelling, ATV ride to Puka Beach (the other side of Boracay, which is really nice and seldomly frequented by tourists), or you can climb your way up to Mt. Luho to have a view of the entirety of the island.

It's also cool to try those hair braids / dread locks to give you more of that summer/island feel.

I suggest that you go find a companion, though travelling alone can be fun as well, on this trip you might want to have a pal around. I look at Boracay as a party island, where more of the fun starts at night.

As for the hostel, that, i couldn't be of any help, i am with the rest of our family when i come to Boracay, so we tend to book on hotels which is going to be a bit pricey for a sole traveler.

Enjoy your trip!

Cheers!

Hi Hi,

i have always wanted to go to boracay too. Where are you guys from? I'm from Singapore.

Hi Travelmaster1,

I'm from the Philippines, so it's quite handy for me to visit Boracay at least once every year.

hi Chona,

Thats so cool. I'm from Singapore actually and always wanted to go boracay.

Boracay is a very small island with a great soft white sandy beach. I went there in Oct, but the water was a bit cool, not too bad. Did some parasailing - and can see for miles and over the island. I thought the "other" activities were a big rip-off, so did not do those tourist trap activities....I just sat most of the day looking at the water and drinking sodas....and massage too. At night, walked along the beach - a crowded, but not too bad.
Stayed near Station 3 (the quieter part of the beach). You will see the difference as you walk up the beach from the "middle" of the tourist area. Not sure about hostels, sorry....

@Travelmaster1, you're a neighbor! you can always visit Boracay, pretty convenient in your location, but i suuggest you plan your visit not during the peak season if you don't want a huge bunch of crowd to share the island with.

@LaoBlue actually, water activities are pretty cheap in Boracay especially when you are in groups, and parasailing aside from diving are the ones we haven't tried yet since it costs a fortune for a 30-minute activity. I envy you though, been wanting to try parasailing for the longest time now.

Very cool information you have there Chonapi. I'd always wanted to go to Boracay. I'll sure visit the place one of these days with a group and hopefully we could do all those activities you mentioned.

Thank you Paulmacpaul

Don't forget to bring your camera while strolling by the shores of Boracay, especially when the sun sets, it'll leave you in awe.

Have a very cool vacation!
