Hey everyone,
Im looking for some advice- i want to travel around in oz for the winter, picking up a few jobs here and there but where would be the best place to start my travels?.. I'm 21 years old and from london, ideally id like to travel with someone else - All of my mates are tied down with jobs or girlfriends. Is Australia a good place to travel alone, isit easy to meet other travellers? Wheres the nicest weather that time of the year?
As you can probably tell im pretty crap at this kind of thing lol.

Australia is easy to get around on your own. You can meet other travellers at hostels and the like.
Temperatures in much of Australia is pretty good in September though some places might be a bit cold at night.
If you want jobs, you will need a work visa, and head to the big towns as there are more chances there and check out some work agencies. Not a lot of fruit to pick after winter.
Don't count on the money though as work is not guaranteed.
hostelbookers is quite good for budget accommodation, including hotels, but places like Sydney do tend to be expensive.
If you can, check out a copy of Lonely Planet for Australia. It's packed with information and well worth the cost.
