Hello all,
I have traveled in South America before, and my Spanish is pretty good... a.k.a. I can get what I need and where I need to go. My question though, is that I have never been to Peru before and I am not sure exactly what to do while I am there. I have been searching around different forums trying to make a plan, but it seems like the more I search, the more confused I get on what I want to do! There are so many things to and I only have 7 weeks there. I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on what things are really amazing and worth doing, or if there are things that are slightly overdone and that I can afford skipping all together. Also suggestions on best ways to travel?...

You may want to look into a travel agency possibly, since you say you ONLY have 7 weeks (a pretty good chunk of time actually!!) they may be able to help you plan a more efficient trip so that you can see as much as you can in the time that you have... Just a suggestion, if you google travel agencies in Peru, you are bound to get quite the collection of them! I have heard good things about one called Dos Manos Travel Agency. But again, just search around on google. Since a lot of tourists go there, there are lots of companies there, too, they go hand in hand
For specifics, definitely Machu Picchu is a must, and also there are lots of smaller trips that you can take too. Again I would suggest googling, you can never read too many blogs! Usually the best ideas are found by reading peoples personal stories!
