How much money would I need for 1 month in America?

Hi,
I've been saving up for ages for my travels and I've decided to do America. I'm planning on travelling for about a month. I'm unsure how much money I would need on food/accommodation/sights etc.
I went to America last year and mainly did Arizona/Nevada/Utah. But I also visited Kentucky/Virginia/Tennessee and Washington D.C. Is there anywhere anyone would recommend? I'm unsure which states to visit, I'm thinking East Coast but any info/tips would be much appreciated!
Thank you!

It depends where you're visiting, what sort of accommodation you're staying at etc. I'm currently travelling across USA and budget up to $60 per night on accommodation which is reasonable and $20 on food and $20-30 for sightseeing and travelling costs per day and I'm within my budget. Usually it's a bit less then that.

It would seem to me that after visiting Arizona, Nevada, Kentucky, Virginia, and Washington D.C. that you would have a pretty good grasp on prices in the US.

In any case, no one can answer your question regarding costs when you haven't even decided where you're visiting this next trip... and it's impossible to make any accurate destination suggestions when you give no clue whatsoever about your budget, age, interests, likes/dislikes, etc...

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry

Thanks, that gives me a good idea!

Yeah, you'd think I would but I was doing volunteer work and had accommodation & food provided for me. And on my days off I did road trips with a hired car with 3 other people, but I'm going solo on this trip. I was hoping East Coast and wondered if anyone had any recommendations on where to visit. I prefer the less touristy places, the smaller cities/towns. I'm 20, prefer the countryside to a city, like adventure, being active etc. More helpful?
Cheers

Nicko,
Why don't you join That will save heaps of money and put you in touch with Americans in each city you visit. Good luck.

You should try the Pacific Northwest. I live in Oregon, and while it's not dirt cheap here, it's far less expensive than the Northeast or California. Oregon has no sales tax, and is a great place for outdoor life and camping. Portland is the big city here, but it's really somewhat of a small town too - not terribly sophisticated, and very popular with your age group. The climate is mild, and if you stay away from our wet winters, very beautiful. Our rivers are full of salmon, sturgeon and trout if you like to fish, and we have excellent crab and clam fishing on the coast.

Thanks Mike! That's really helpful

That sounds really nice, definitely my cup of tea! Thanks for the idea! Are there any other nice cities in the state or nearby states that you know of?
