Help needed in planning a trip to Aus-NZ

manco1 has indicated that this thread is about South Australia

You should look into the national parks. australia is full off them and they are huge perfect for bush walking and camping. there are tours you can join that require walking to experince different areas of austrlia such ad the three day tour of uluru. best place to find out most off this and websites for tours is australia lonely planet guide. its full off beaches bars tours things too do... basically everything.

I am not a trekking expert but any strenuous activity in WA over summer will likely be taxing considering , with average temps above 30oC!

On the east coast I recommend looking at the and in Victoria, or the in NSW. All amazing spots. Do check out the links for more info on these popular places or see the full lists: , .

As to time, go with what you are comfortable with. Would you be happy exploring one location for a week and moving on? You can always have a rough plan based on what you think might be in the area and if you find a town doesn't capture your imagination, leave a little earlier and discover somewhere else. In that respect I am also a huge fan of renting a car as you can move to the next city exactly when you decide. Plus you're not limited in your national park choices by those that are accessible by bus!

I also suggest starting in the north, say , and then heading south down the coast. Enjoy!

Hey. I am thinking of doing a greyhound tour from Sydney up the coast to Cairns. Maybe you can consider it, and perhaps we can both do it together! PM me!

I think you'd do better to do your trekking in NZ. That country is so much easier to travel to remote areas, well lets face it with only 4 million people the whole place is pretty remote! In WA it will be much more difficult to get to good trekking places and much more expensive and you have to be much more equipped, where as NZ you can just head off with a day pack and be in some amazing places in a couple of hours.
