Domestic travel within USA - advise required please

Hi guys

Why didn't you buy a Greyhound pass?

Well, at this point you have about 3 choices--(1) Megabus back to NY and then Megabus up to Boston, (2) rent a car for just a day or so and drive the route. (P.S. Because the rates are so high for dropoff at a different place than where you started, you might find that renting for three days with a return to Buffalo is cheaper than the one-day charge with the drop-off charge, or (3) Go by Greyhound or Trailways bus from Buffalo to Boston.

If you plan to go on out west via bus, you might find that doing as Daawgon suggests and buying a Greyhound pass is your best bet, since then you can use it for both the trip to Boston and to go west. However, if you are going west by train or plane, then just get the one-way bus ticket to Boston.

Thanks for your replies. I thought I had submitted my reply. Not sure whether I submitted it or if it has been removed.
I just looked into Greyhound and I don't think the pass will work out well for me as I'll be staying in most places for 3-4 nights and then moving on to the next destination With the pass it appears it would only benefit mainly if you're moving from place to place after a day or two to get the best value from it.
The car hire seems quite expensive as well and I won't be coming back to Buffalo or within this region so I'm afraid that is out of the equation.
Flight is something that I will consider too but I am on a budget so I think I will opt for a one way bus ticket with Greyhound. Thanks.
