Escorted tour, or go it alone?

Hi guys, you may have read my post about going to australia in November.

I would do it independently - there are so many solo travellers out there so it will be easy to hook up with someone to travel with if you want to, and as you say, the escorted tours tend to be expensive. I travelled around Australia for 3 months on my own but found I wasn't alone very much! I used Greyhound mainly, with a couple of internal flights to cover larger distances such as Adelaide to Perth. I also did a few shorter organised tours and excursions - to Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks (from Darwin), along the Great Ocean Road, a few days in Tasmania and a tour which did a loop from Perth to several places in Western Australia. These types of tours tend to be good value as they're geared towards backpackers, and are easily organised from hostels once you are out there.

Yeah that's what I was kind of thinking
at least then if i don't fancy doing something one day, i can just lounge about without having to be 'on the road' and going here there and everywhere
i guess there's more opportunity to do as i please

Exactly - and you can choose to stay somewhere for as long or as short a time as you like rather than having to stick to the itinerary on the tour.

I think you should go alone and its much more fun! Explore and stay even if its for a short time, experience and end enjoy every scenery there is.

If anything go out and do the Ultimate Oz tour intro to Sydney.

I think thats the site, im going on that in a few weeks! Slightly nervous though.
