Only got 4 days in Norway!!! what to do ?!

Good day friends,

Hi there Said! Where are you starting out? As you say, 4 days is not really a lot to see much, but you can at least take in one of the big cities properly, and perhaps some of the surroundings. Will you have a car or want to take domestic flights while you are here?

Hello and thankyou for your answer!

Actually i dont know where to start but i'd like to choose one or 2 big cities to visit.

Are there no trains to travel between cities?

The most beautiful areas in Norway is defenitely the Lofoten.
Lofoten is just beautiful!

Then I loved the norht of Norway. There you're with the pure nature. Not a lot of ppl therefore everyone is even nicer and more helpful. And in summer you can take the most out of your 4 days because you have the midnight sun = 24 hours sunshine

When you stay more in the middle then I can advise you to see the westcoast. It was very beautiful too. a lot of nice mountain and on the other side the sea. And a lot of ferries because of the fjords.

Elsewise you can make some daytrips in the south. For example hiking to Preikestollen or Trolltunga.

Enjoy. Norway is beautiful and worth to stay 4 month instead of 4 days...

Are there no trains to travel between cities?

yes, there are. But Norway is loooong! South-Norway to North-Norway is around 2000km! That's like Oslo-Rom !

There are trains in the south and middle. And the trains aren't really going northern than Narvik. So from there you would need to take a flight or busses.

Thankyou for your answer!

Im thinkin of going to Andalsnes and Geiragner . Do u think I can do these 2 cities within 4 days?

That isn't enough time to get to the good stuff. :-(

Maybe do Oslo and Bergen and the railway journey between them - with the detour in the middle on the Flåm branchline, often called the Norway in a Nutshell tour. That gets you a taste of the scenery. Bergen has the Bryggen world heritage site and a nice funicular up Mount Fløyen for a great view of the city and surrounding islands and fjords. Oslo is a great city, you could fill your time seeing the Viking ships museum, the winter Olympic ski jump stadium at holmenkollen, or Thor Heyerdahl's kon tiki museum.

A lot depends on your point of entry and how you get about. Most likely Oslo, and from there you can do cheap (by Norwegian standards!) hops with Norwegian airlines, often cheaper than trains. Classic way to tour is the Norwegian coastal voyage, 14 daily stages but costs a lot.

I'm in agreement with brouillard and Andyf. If you are flying into Oslo for example, Andalsnes and Geiranger aren't exactly close by. The closest would be Trondheim. I'm sure you could find some trip/tour that can take in both of those from Trondheim or maybe Bergen within a few days, but it wouldn't leave you time really for anything else.

If you are flying into Oslo, I'd try and do the Oslo-Bergen traintrip with Flåm in between, plus a little time to see each city. You couldn't do a return trip though, so you'd have to fly into Oslo and out of Bergen, or vice versa.

Norway is a BIG country!
