Best cities in France?

I'm planning a trip to the south of France and want to know the "must see" destinations. Nice, Cannes, Monte Carlo? Any suggestions would be great. I'm going in March during my study abroad spring break. I'll be in Rome.

Nice would be a great place to visit I hope you'll have fun

March there is lots of accommodation available.

You could get a car and drive along the coast and decide what places you like. It's a nice run if you aren't in a hurry.

However Italy itself has a lot of nice villages and towns worth visiting.

Just returned from the south of France and discovered a gorgeous village on the Mediterranean called Collioure. We stayed there for three sun soaked days, went to diving school and mooched around the medieval castle and walls. At night we overlooked the sea and town lights from our tiny hotel room at the Caravanches de Collioure which was a reasonable price and excellent. This place is west of the Mediterranean places already mentionned above.

Thanks guys, sounds great. I definitely want to see the well- known places (Nice, Caanes, etc.) but I'm also interested in the smaller not so dense villages... the hidden gems. Keep the suggestions coming.

Definately make time to get to Cannes. If you like shopping take lots of dosh as just every designer outlet is there.
The beach clubs are great and food excellent or simply walk along the Promenade de la Croisette and then just grab a chair (there are lots of benches and chairs along the whole promenade) and watch the world go by.

I was in South of France last year and I visited all south of france and it was just fabulous !
You "must see" the city Menton and Marseille (which is the 2nd biggest city in france!) but also Saint Tropez (for meet stars ! ^^), Monaco (with the prince and princess!) and Avignon (famous for the french song "sur le pont d'avignon, on y danse tous en rond"! The bridge is on UNESCO )
-snip-

I hope you travel good,
xx

Mont Saint Michel is my choice I just love it

You can visit Nice, Arles if you like (street, museums and rivers), Must see the Millau Bridge which is one of the tallest bridge in the world

Happy Journey-
