Need help for vietnam itinerary!!

wsfl_ has indicated that this thread is about Vietnam

Hi wsfl,
I hope I'm not too late to comment.
I live in Vietnam.
I think the cost of in Vietnam fairly good.
because, 1USD ~ 20000VNĐ ; 1SDG ~ 17000VNĐ => 400SDG ~ 1800000VNĐ
If you know how to spend in Vietnam, i thinks you only cost about 500000VNĐ/1day
For example: cost for a day
Food-100000VNĐ/1day: You should buy at supermarket (siêu thị), the cheap restaurant (Cơm bình dân). Note: should buy them away tourist spots, hospitals (bệnh viện), bus (bến xe), because it will be very expensive.
Accommodation-200000VNĐ/1day: If your cost is tight, you should stay in cheap motel (nhà nghỉ bình dân). You look at the table record cost: for example: 200000/1day; 150000/1đêm(1 night).
Means of travel: I thinks the bus is the cheapest: 4000VNĐ/1times. You can catch the bus at Ben Thanh Market. And If you want to go to other provinces in Vietnam with the cheaper cost, you can catch the car from eastern bus station and west bus station.
Note: You don't know something, ask people in the tourist destination. In Ben Thanh market, Notre Dame Cathedral most people can speak English. You should bring a map and bus map.
Finally, Good luck!!

Hi Ha Hien,
thanks for your advice. yes, i'm definitely will be staying in cheap backpackers hostels.
Apart from HCMC, and Saigon it seems to be difficult to find hostels in cities like vung tau and muine.
So anyway, I am wondering should i go to vung tau or swap it with a mekong delta cities like can tho?
Since I'll be heading to muine and nha trang, I feel that i can give vung tau a miss and go to other places instead. what do you think?

I thinks you shouldn't miss any place in Vietnam.
and you should go to Vung Tau, because, Vung Tau is one of famous tourist destination in Vietnam.
You can't miss while coming Vietnam is: Ha Long Bay, Cat Ba sea, Sa Pa in northern Vietnam; Da Lat, the mausoleum of Hue, the ancient town Hoi An in central Vietnam; Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh, Phu Quoc in south Vietnam.:

Wasif,
I see you are on the road again! I would forget Vung Tau. Nha Trang (NT) is just a better beach experience IMO. With 14 days, here is what I will suggest. HCMC 3 days, overnight bus to NT on 3rd day. 3 days of beach & sightseeing. Bus to Mui Ne. I would only stay in MN 2 days. Bus to DaLat. 3 days. Bus back to HCMC. Delta tour, tunnels or what you did not see when you arrived. Fly home.

covers DaLat, NT, MN. I did not blog about my first 3 trips to VN, so not much on HCM. I do have plenty of photos of most of VN. Good luck.

Thanks mike!
You save me from worries again.
I was just about to put in some extra money to travel the whole length of vietnam before your post.
Like HCMC-NT-Danang-Hanoi-HCMC.
I really like your itinerary but the thing is, i cant find any cheap hostel for dalat and muine .
Especially muine, all i see in the internet are resorts. Im a bit tight on budget this time.
I'm having this dilemma whether to miss halong bay and stick to the south or to spend abit more and see it.
Its like gg to paris and not see eiffel at all. That kind of feeling. What do you think?

Hi Wasif

I'd recommend spending a little bit more and seeing Halong Bay. Although it's touristy these days it's beautiful and I think it's a must- see while in Vietnam.

Personally I wasn't keen on HCMC and I thought a day there was enough, with another day to visit the Cu Chi tunnels which are fascinating. Hanoi is a fantastic city well worth a few days, so I like your itinerary of HCMC-NT-Danang-Hanoi-HCMC. There's not much in Danang but I assume from there you're planning to visit Hoi An?

Hi rebecca!
Yeah, i was really think of travelling up north now.
But what do you reckon? What are cities that i shd visit along the way up north?
And shd i travel overnight by bus or train? Which is safer and better

Hue and Hoi An are both worth visiting on your way up north. The stretch between Hue and Hanoi is best done by sleeper train which I found to be comfortable and enjoyable. Otherwise we took the bus throughout Vietnam (during the day) which was fine. In 2 weeks you could do Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An and HCMC.
