So planning on arriving in Sydney towards the end of November and keep contemplating whether to book a single or return ticket to London. I'm thinking about going to Bali on the way back. I know the return ticket is only a few hundred pounds more than the single ticket, but looking at Asia flights back from Sydney/Melbourne to Bali/Singapore/K Lumpa (stop over or travel for a bit) and then a flight back to London. Return flight and single ticket and 2 internal flights work out about the same price and I could keep my options open on my plans after OZ. So trying to decide what to do, what are other peeps doing??
In my expierience it is good to have return ticket booked in advance.
Few reasons, safety.
You know how long u r going to stay
Other people know when to expect you to get back, might be good thing in a tough spot.
I would try to plan my trip just geoprahically and time-line possible, dont spend too much money on un necessary travelling becouse with planning little bit yor route to advance will get you to see more.
I know where you are coming from but if I meet other people and change my plans my options will be open. Internal flights seem inexpensive to get about and home so that's making me think about the single ticket option.
When I go away, I will be booking a single ticket. I guess it depends whether or not you are good with your money and can always keep x amount in the bank to purchase the flight back.
Booking flights in Oz is VERY expensive. During some times of year you're looking at about $1200 one way to get back to the UK.
The only drawbacks are obviously lack of flexibility if you change or mind, and that flights are usually only valid for 12 months. In future, I definitely plan to always book a return. I'd bear the extra cost in mind.
Hi Laura,
I go to Aus in Feb on a one way ticket.
The reason i chose a single is because i dont know where or when i will be flying back to the UK from. Another reason is i dont want to be worrying about having to change my flights, or not been able to go somewhere becuase it will intervine with my flight home. i want that flexibilty to go when and as i please, as my plans will always be changing!
Hope this helps x
hey guys you can change the return dates with qantas cost like 50 pound and 30 dollars(well 2 years ago it was lol) but this time im going one way, because it really cheap to travel to asia after a year in oz :-P
