Technically: yes. Just take a load of internal flights, from one city to the next.
In any worthwhile manner, which'll allow you to see and experience what the east coast is all about? Not nearly. If you're going this time of year, I'd skip out on Cairns due to the wet season being in full swing up there. Melbourne to Brisbane in 3 weeks is already extremely rushed, but at least makes some sense. Get a Greyhound buspass for the stretch, and pick a few likely places along the route to stop for a few days at.
