Calculating Length of Blog Posts

Is there a way to calculate the number of characters in a blog post before I publish it? I understand that each post can only be so many characters, but I don't know what the limit is or how to tell if I'm over it. I have a long trip report coming and I'd like to try to divide it into somewhat equal parts before I publish it, if possible. Thanks!

Nothing built-in at the moment. The best I could suggest is to find a browser plugin that does this. I haven't looked, but I'm fairly certain such a thing would exist!

I don't know the actual limit. I had reached it several times before, and I just continued with another post.

While in draft mode the post editor saves the text automatically. When it fails, it's most likely because it has exceeded its limit (especially when the post is quite lengthy. There're other reasons why it fails).

The best thing is to write it in word processor as the blog post editor doesn't have thing like spell-check.

It's much easy to find out the limit by incrementally copy block of text until the automatic save fails. And you will get some good idea how long the post limit by relating it to the length of your copied text from your word processor.

The limit should be 65,000 characters which corresponds to the limit of that field in our database.

Kudos to you both for hitting that limit. It's no mean feat

Btw, spell checkers are usually built into browsers these days (at least it is in Chrome / Safari on a Mac). But again, if it's not, then there is most certainly going to be a plugin that will allow that functionality.

I just checked, and each part is under 35,000 characters (guess I'm slipping!). Thanks!!
