I'm planning to see Goa in roughly 7-8 hours. It's more like an on-the-way stop, and I want max out the hours in Goa, I might be back for a reconnaissance but after a long while, and I want to know what are the main attractions for a couple of friends out in Goa with no aversion to hectic schedules. Also, is anyone aware of general tourist-safety practices there?
Ah, Goa is such a unique world in it's own way.
The attractions depend on your type of visit.
I'll list out the ones I liked:
Beaches - crowded ones with restaurants - Baga Beach
- Scenic with friendly stall owners - Anjuna
A stunning view of the ocean - Fort Aguada
Nightlife - Hippies or Curleys.
Hi- 7-8 hours is a pretty short time if u plan to use public transport. To make max out of this I would highly recommend renting a motorbike or a taxi.
Its off season right now so places wont be that crowded.
I think you can have a tour of Panjim, Mapusa city and surrounding beaches.
Goa is pretty safe but show as if u visit Goa regularly and that u have friends here.

Thank you that was very helpful, both the posts. Considering you know Goa well enough, I'll get the details here itself. Here goes :
I'm a first-timer to Goa, so basically I don't want to know the nooks and crannies, just enough to have touched the main attractions. Renting bikes, I'm planning to reach goa from either Bangalore or Mysore, so will I get a bike say, early morning?
Going south to north, can you list out the must-see places? I'll be making a round trip to return the bike, so I could keep the beaches for the latter part. Name the beaches, restaurants n anything else if you know them pls
I don't think I'll focus too north, so south to mid-goa is pretty much my target area. Is there something authentically Goan I should try, even though it's off season now?
Oh and, the average prices too, whether it'll get to expensive along with the bike or not. If I go with bags, where I can leave them till I pick them up on returning?
Would u be coming by flight to goa? if yes then is goa a transit stop?
Please check with your international airline if they offer luggage locker facilities at goa airport.
I think most tourists leaving for banglore travel by buses departing from Mapusa bus stand and vice versa.
Also I think the bike rental is around INR 150-200 per day, plus its off season right now so it will be little bit cheaper. Or u can also find few online.
When r u landing in goa? There's plenty of car/bike rental shops around in Mapusa. If I go that side then I can get u the contact nr of few car/bike renters. Since u r coming early morning its better to have vehicle booked ahead of time.
No flights, most probably the travel buses from Bangalore. I have to check where around their drop-off points are and choose accordingly. Mapusa would be too north, don't you think? It would be convenient somewhere south so I can directly head off for Bangalore, unless of course the bus drops off in Mapusa itself.
Rental numbers would help a lot, since a lot of plans are being spun to go to Goa, so if you could get me some, I'd be grateful.
When are you going to Goa? Or are you there already?
